24 Kansas senators voted for a bill on Wednesday that would banning all transgender athletes from participating in girls and women’s school sports. This level of bigotry has no place in Kansas. This bill is centered on bullying children and those who voted for it have no regard for the impact this bill would have on Kansas students.

Gov. Laura Kelly on Wednesday derided the proposed ban on transgender athletes in girls' and womens' school sports as “regressive.” Senate Minority Leader Dinah Sykes called the measure “hateful” and “rooted in bigotry.”
