Friends,

Today, multiple people were shot and killed, including a police officer, in a horrific mass shooting in Boulder, Colorado.

Yet again, an entire community was struck with fear as family and friends waited to hear if their loved ones at the grocery store in Boulder were safe.

This tragedy comes just 6 days after the shootings targeting Asian American women that shook Atlanta and our nation to the core.

As we get closer to returning to normal on the other side of the coronavirus pandemic, we cannot return to active shooters threatening our daily lives.

We have allowed ourselves to become too numb to this violence. But worse than that, we have allowed our elected officials to fail us time and time again.

Gun violence is preventable. And every day we don't act, we choose to let the shootings continue.

11 days ago, the House passed universal background checks with bipartisan support and now we are pushing as hard as we can for the Senate to hold a debate and vote. This bill could save countless lives. We have the tools to address this problem, now let's give the Senate the courage to use them.
