John,
Last week, the U.S. House passed the American Dream and Promise Act,
granting a pathway to citizenship for 4.4 million immigrants, over half of
them Dreamers - people who came to the US as undocumented minors and who
received temporary protections under the Deferred Action for Childhood
Arrivals program.
This is a big step forward and, even better, it was a bipartisan vote with
9 House Republicans voting for it. Polling shows 74% of all Americans,
including 54% of Republicans, support citizenship for Dreamers. And
President Biden has said that, if it makes it to his desk, he'll sign it.
In other words, this bill has a chance to pass the Senate even without
changing the filibuster and when it does, it will become law.

on them to step up and deliver. If they lead, we’ll have their back. Help
us show them there’s grassroots support nationwide by signing the petition

What is happening on America’s southern border right now is a tragedy.
Thousands of families -- men, women, children – trying to escape violence,
poverty, and economic devastation have been hoping to seek refuge in
America and start a new life of promise and freedom, but instead, they’re
turned away.
They’re inspired by hope for the future, but with few exceptions, the vast
majority (over 72% in fact) are being forced to return to the terrible
conditions they’re struggling to leave behind.
Thankfully we have a President who understands that the surge is not
driven by how America treats people at the border.
If treating people terribly at the border worked – separating minors from
parents, instant deportations of pregnant mothers, and numerous other
purposefully hateful and dangerous government actions done under the Trump
administration – at keeping people from coming, then we wouldn’t have seen
3 huge surges during the Trump years.
It didn’t work. Trump didn’t stop a single surge.
All Trump did was hurt people, separating families, locking children in
cages, and sending asylum seekers back without regard for the risk of
violence. Then Trump tried to run on the fear of migrant hordes coming to
destroy America and his record of hate and mistreatment of immigrants at
the border and you know what else we saw?
Trump losing. Over and over again.
In fact, in 2018 and 2020, Trump and Trump Republicans ran for office on
the fear of immigrants and a closed violent border and lost.
Democrats paid attention and now, they’re flipping the narrative.
[ [link removed] ]Democrats are leading with popular legislation that recognizes that
America is a nation of immigrants and we thrive when we provide a pathway
to citizenship. The House lead, now it’s up to the Senate to finish the
job and pass the bill. Add your name right now.

It’s up to us to make sure Democrats know that when they lead, we have
their backs.
Thank you for adding your name in support of the American Dream and
Promise Act today.
