Today is World Water Day and we’re celebrating by supporting the WATER Act. Chip in today to fight for clean, safe water for everyone.

John,

Our health shouldn’t be threatened by unsafe drinking water. But the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) failure to set enforceable safety standards for toxic per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) does just that.

Toxic PFAS chemicals have been found in the drinking water supply of 100 million people in the U.S.; studies show that 97 percent of us already have them in our bloodstream. But what really makes PFAS dangerous is that they don’t break down in the environment. That’s why they’re called “forever chemicals.” And these chemicals are everywhere — used in dozens of household products from water-repellent clothing to pizza boxes to non-stick pans.

A few weeks ago, thanks to Food & Water Action and supporters like you, the WATER Act was reintroduced in Congress. The Water Affordability, Transparency, Equity and Reliability (WATER) Act is the most comprehensive approach to improving our water systems and helping ensure that every person has access to safe and clean water in the U. S. This groundbreaking piece of legislation would help fix water contamination from PFAS by providing funding to update old water treatment systems or find alternative water supplies when necessary.

This is why, on World Water Day, we are fighting to pass the WATER Act. Will you join our campaign for clean and safe water?

Make a donation of $35 (or any amount) and join thousands of Food & Water Action members in our fight for clean and safe drinking water for every person in the country!

The WATER Act is game-changing legislation that would devote $35 billion a year in federal funding to make clean water accessible and affordable for our communities. This critical legislation would:

Prioritize small, rural, indigenous and disadvantaged communities with grants and additional support;
Fund projects to address water contamination from toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS);
Help homeowners replace dangerous lead service lines;
Provide more than $1 billion a year to update water infrastructure in public schools;
Upgrade household wells and septic systems; and
Promote safe, affordable, publicly controlled water for all.

DONATE NOW

Now is the time for major federal investment in our public water infrastructure to renovate our nation's old, lead-ridden water pipes, and help people whose water is contaminated with toxic “forever chemicals” like PFAS.

Being able to drink clean water is a human right. Being able to wash your hands is an urgent need. Our fight for the WATER Act will help make sure every person in the U.S. has access to clean and safe water.

This World Water Day join our campaign for the WATER Act by donating now!
