Dear John,
When I was an undocumented student advisor, here’s what I saw:
- Faculty and staff asking, “How can I help undocumented students?”
- People sharing a lot of ideas without effective structure to sustain the work.
- Many campuses where the responsibility of supporting undocumented students fell on just one person.
I know firsthand that when you are committed to supporting undocumented students, it often feels like there are not enough hours in the day to complete the work that needs to get done. However, we can all lighten our individual loads by building a strong task force that institutes proven practices across our campuses.
Join us tomorrow 3/23 for an opportunity to hear from experts on the forefront of this work.
You will learn strategies from our new guide on building an undocumented student task force and hear directly from task force members at different colleges and universities about how they effectively engage and mobilize their campus community.
Our featured panelists are Cynthia Mosqueda (El Camino College), Alonso Reyna Rivarola (Salt Lake Community College), Ana Miriam Barragan Santoyo (California State University, Dominguez Hills), and Marisela Hernandez (Foundation for California Community Colleges).
I look forward to continuing to work together to ensure that ALL undocumented students are supported in their educational journeys!
Building institutional practices with you,
Nancy
P.S. If you can’t make the webinar, you can still make a difference on your campus for undocumented students. Can you forward this email to three of your colleagues and contacts?
