The RCAQSI was created by queer and allied alumni of Western Theological Seminary with the "aim to provide focused, targeted support to LGBTQIA students with ties to the Reformed Church in America."

This includes educational support and resources, access to mental health counseling with licensed therapists, and funds to defray costs associated with credit transfer to an affirming seminary and other expenses.

This is not an RfA program, but we recognize the significant intersecting of the RCAQSI's mission, vision, and stated purposes with RfA's own ministry. We are proud to amplify this important work and let you know about it, too!

We believe the RCAQSI program helps those with a call to ministry be honest about who they are, be affirmed and safe in their identity, and live with integrity in an educational environment that allows their gifts and call to flourish. All people have a need to belong, and making space for mental healthcare and financial support of tomorrow's church leaders is a long overdue start to that belonging.

Donations made to the RCAQSI are fully tax-deductible, and are organized through their fiscal sponsor, the Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church of Cincinnati, OH. Mt. Auburn is a long-time More Light Presbyterians (our ecumenical partner in the PC(USA)) congregation and has been at the forefront of LGBTQIA and marginalized-community activism for much of their history.

The RCA's General Synod 2021 has been postponed until at least October. A decision will be made later this Spring as to whether it's safe to hold Synod in October or postpone until June 2022.
