You deserve to know how their CEO is spending their profits: on bankrolling the Texas politicians that are suppressing our right to vote.
Charles Butt, HEB's owner and CEO, has given $200,000 to Greg Abbott in the last two years - including $100,000 in December as Abbott was spreading conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
Butt gave another $100,000 directly to House Republicans like Dade Phelan who are moving forward voter suppression bills right now, even though Texas is already the hardest state to vote in. On top of THAT, the HEB corporate PAC gave ANOTHER $50,000 to the same places.
Texans should be able to shop at their favorite grocery store without worrying that they're supporting attacks on our right to vote. Can you help us send a message to HEB's owners to stop their contributions to candidates that are attacking our rights?
HEB does many good things for Texans. They've kept Texans fed during the pandemic, delivered much-needed disaster aid during natural disasters, and more. That's what makes it so disappointing that they are backing Republicans attacking our right to vote.
Voter suppression bills supported by HEB-backed Republicans would mass-purge voters from the rolls, shut down mass voting sites, and effectively eliminate drop-off ballots - they would even make it harder to drive people to the polls when they need a ride.
HEB should stand up for Texans and condemn these attacks on our rights. Can you help us send them a message now?
