Coming soon: Beulah Mae Donald's incredible true story Next month, we’re bringing you a new four-part Original Series about a courageous woman whose fight for justice we all should know. The People v. The Klan tells the little-known true story of Beulah Mae Donald, a Black mother in Alabama who took down the Ku Klux Klan after the brutal murder and lynching of her son, Michael Donald. He was just 19 years old when he was found dead, hanging from a tree in Mobile, on March 21, 1981.
Beulah Mae Donald and local Black leaders refused to back down until his killers were brought to justice, and Donald didn’t stop there. As professor and historian Erica Armstrong Dunbar writes, “Donald would mourn the unthinkable loss of her child and somehow manage to dig deeply into her reservoir of strength to survive and seek justice for her son with a groundbreaking civil case.” Read more from Dunbar on Beulah Mae’s story here. The first two episodes of The People v. The Klan air back-to-back on Sunday, April 11 @ 9 PM and 10 PM ET/PT.
