Dear John,
I am continuing to hold the line against the Democrat’s radical agenda to fundamentally change America. Here are a few of last week’s highlights.

NO Earmarks

I voted against changing the Republican Conference rules to allow GOP members of Congress to request earmarks. After a majority of Republicans voted to end the earmark ban, I signed a letter pledging I would not request them. While Congress has the power of the purse under our Constitution, too often earmarks have been used by leaders in both parties to "buy" votes and reward loyalists with pet projects. President Trump came to Washington to drain the swamp, Congress should not look for ways to fill it back up.

Standing Up for the Second Amendment

There is no question that domestic violence is a serious issue. However, it should never be used as a smokescreen for the Democrat's anti-gun agenda. This week I went to the House floor to oppose the Violence Against Women Act provisions that could permanently remove our Second Amendment rights for misdemeanor convictions AND confiscate guns without due process under so-called "red flag" laws.

This VAWA gun grab followed on the heels of the Democrats' universal background check bill that would require a paper trail on all gun transactions. If enacted into law, this bill would create a de facto national gun registry.

Biden's Border Crisis Grows

President Biden's rush to undo the Trump-era border policies has created a humanitarian crisis on our Southern Border. This week Congressional Democrats doubled down on the Biden open border policies by passing two immigration bills that would give amnesty to a total of FIVE million illegal immigrants. Not only did I vote against these dangerous bills, I went to the House floor to speak out against them.
