Hi John,
The government says it wants to lead the world in tackling climate change - but they are still giving climate-wrecking oil and gas projects the go-ahead in the North Sea.
This has to stop. If we're going to get out of the climate crisis this government must stop issuing new oil and gas licences, but they also have a responsibility to protect oil and gas workers who have helped power the UK for over two generations. They can do this by investing in renewable energy and retraining workers in the coastal communities which have long relied on the oil industry.
We know that the government is making decisions about the future of North Sea oil and gas over the next month, so today we delivered a message to Energy Minister Anne-Marie Trevelyan: stop granting new oil and gas licences and kickstart a green jobs revolution.
If we can also make this a huge issue for the Energy Minister on social media – we can pressure the government to stop issuing new oil and gas licences once and for all.
Can you tell the government to end the UK's reliance on fossil fuels, kickstart a green revolution and protect the future of our workers?
