Friend, Since record voter turnout in November, Republicans across the country have unleashed a wave of voter suppression laws. That’s why I was proud to vote to pass the For the People Act -- sweeping legislation that will root out corruption and protect the right to vote. ✔️ THE GEORGE FLOYD JUSTICE IN POLICING ACTLast spring and summer, the diverse community of GA-07 joined in solidarity with people across the country to demand change. I was proud to vote for the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act as a first step in addressing systemic racism and injustice. In passing this critical legislation, we took a step in delivering on this important issue. ✔️ THE EQUALITY ACTIn most states, a person can still be denied housing, education, or the chance to serve on a jury because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. It is past time to end discrimination against LGBTQ+ Americans -- which is why I was glad to cast a strong YES vote to pass the Equality Act. ✔️ THE BIPARTISAN BACKGROUND CHECKS ACT OF 2021During my campaign, I was proud to be a gun-sense candidate. This month, the House took a monumental step towards curbing gun violence across the country by passing universal background checks. I voted for this bill because it will save lives and close dangerous loopholes in our existing laws. ✔️ THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLANThis desperately needed legislation was our first step towards building back better. In addition to more than $5 billion in state relief and $3.5 billion in local relief, the ARP provides additional direct payments of $1,400 to 88% of Georgians. The ARP also expands the child tax credit, which will impact the families of over 2 million Georgia kids and lift 171,000 out of poverty. Friend, I am deeply proud of all we’ve accomplished thus far, and I am fired up and ready to continue putting in the work for Georgia’s 7th. All of this has been possible because voters like you showed up and delivered a Biden White House and a Democratic Congress -- thank you!
