There’s one battle in the Senate we cannot afford to take our eyes off for one minute. And it’s coming at you and me this week. If there is one bill in 2021 that could permanently scar the fabric of the Constitution, it’s H.R. 1, which already passed the House. The sister legislation in the Senate, S. 1, has a committee hearing this Wednesday and is picking up steam with every Democrat senator, save one, signing on as a co-sponsor. The Democrats are making a move for permanent one-party rule, and they’re just about to get their way by using this disastrous piece of legislation. Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) is now sounding the alarm about just how horrific this bill would be in an op-ed he penned this week. “Sponsors of H.R. 1 claim their bill
is “For the People.” But it could not be more deceptively named. The real question is, which people is H.R. 1 intended to benefit? The
answer, not surprisingly, is its authors. “The true purpose of H.R. 1 — better characterized as the “Illegal Voting Act” — is not to increase legal voting. It’s to increase illegal voting and crack down on criticism of the government. It’s an Alien and Sedition Act for the 21st century: partisan, unconstitutional and borderline tyrannical.” In short, H.R. 1 and S. 1 would allow for the permanent manipulation of elections by nationalizing them. Now that H.R. 1 passed the House, the political class, led by the radical left, is going to get a hearing this Wednesday, which puts us one step closer to our Republic falling off a cliff. This bill has so many bad ideas in one package including: >>Making it illegal to clean out voter rolls of deceased or non-residents; >>Forcing states to allow early voting; >>Forcing states to allow vote-by-mail, which is fraught with opportunities to commit fraud; >>Forcing taxpayers to subsidize candidates they don’t align with politically; and >>Policing online speech about elections with new broad and sweeping powers. The so-called “For the People Act” empowers federal regulators to categorize and regulate speech, including online. That means Campaign for Liberty could be in legal jeopardy for running our critical candidate survey program so you will know where candidates stand on issues important to you. . . Not only that, but merely telling you how your legislators voted on legislation could become a CRIME! Patriot, this bill is way too close for comfort to ending up on Joe Biden’s desk and we must take action NOW to stop it. If you haven’t yet . . . Sign the petition to your U.S. Senators to oppose H.R. 1 / S. 1, the Election Theft Bill! Then, please consider pitching in $35, $50, or even $150, to give Campaign for Liberty the resources we need to stop this brazen attempt to steal future elections! And if you’ve already signed, please forward this email to three friends who believe in protecting free and fair elections. Our elections were never meant to be “nationalized” in this way. The U.S. Constitution clearly states that elections are to be held and electors for the presidential election chosen by the manner in which the state legislature prescribes. H.R. 1 / S. 1 would completely turn this on its head and force states to adopt rules for their elections that many of them do not want or are in the process of remedying because of flaws they have discovered. For example, states like Arizona currently have bills moving in the state legislatures that would clean out voter rolls of the deceased or voters who have moved to other states. It should really go without saying -- dead people and non-residents should not be allowed to vote in elections! H.R. 1 / S. 1 would thwart those efforts by the states and give the FEC the power to clamp down on anyone who questions an attempt by a candidate’s campaign to commit voter fraud. This is all going in the wrong direction, and fast. Sign the petition! Just this week, a judge in Michigan ruled against actions of the Michigan Secretary of State, deeming that she had violated state law by expanding mail-in voting right before the 2020 election. If H.R. 1 / S. 1 is signed into law, this ruling and any similar rulings in other states where there were controversies, will be rendered completely moot. States must continue to have a say in their elections, as prescribed in the Constitution, or we will have a permanently corrupted system that could be impossible to escape. I am urging all members of the Senate to oppose this reckless bill when it’s heard next week and appreciate your support in doing so as well. For Liberty, Ron Paul Chairman P.S. Liberty will ultimately prevail, but not without you and me facing some tough battles. Many eyes need to be opened, and Campaign for Liberty is keeping the brushfires of liberty burning.
