Here’s the thing: Republicans are making it harder not only to vote but
also to register to vote and stay registered.

Republicans in multiple states are calling for one-strike voter roll
purges: Anyone who doesn’t vote in or misses a single election would be
immediately stripped of their voter registration status. You may not even
be notified either -- You’ll find out the next time you go to vote when
you get turned away from the polls.

In other states, they’re seeking to ban same-day voter registration in
states that have it and make it illegal to register new voters MONTHS
before an election. Republicans even mocked Stacey Abrams’ work to
register new voters by naming an organization that supports these
restrictions as “STOP STACEY!”

With automatic voter registration, Al Gore argues, none of that matters:
All American citizens would be registered to vote when they turn 18.
