Hi,
Today we’re all coming together to plant trees in honor of
International Day of Forests to help support the villages of Saklana
in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, where the trees we plant help
local communities reforest their lands. We’re planting peach, plum,
walnut, lemon and apricot trees that not only secure and nourish the
land — they nourish the people, too.
Thanks to donors like you, we planted 25,000 trees there in
February and we plan to return again this spring to plant 10,000
more.
Life is not easy on the foothills of the Himalayas, and even our
tree saplings must be delivered up dirt roads by donkey to reach the
village. Food security has not yet been achieved, and the village has
not been spared from the Covid pandemic. Forests in the region
continue to disappear as development and commercial logging grows. But
we are making progress and we have more work to do.
Help us Plant 10,000 Trees with a donation on
International Day of Forests!
Projects like these bring together
the important work of reforestation and sustainable community
development. Children are taught the value of trees and community
members commit to care for them for generations.
You can help us continue to support our amazing planting villages
on this special day. Every dollar you donate will allow us to plant a
tree through The Canopy Project.
