Regular Army end strength currently stands at 486,000 personnel and has plans to grow into the 490,000s. However, many expect the Biden administration to resurrect plans to cut end strength—causing a considerable squeeze to Army modernization.

This week, the UN World Food Programme (WFP) announced 272 million people face acute hunger today—a number exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

€700 million

In 2020, the European Commission and European Investment Fund launched a pilot scheme of €100 million to invest in venture capital funds that target AI and blockchain technology activities. As of October 2020, around 60 percent of the pilot’s funding has been committed to back European tech equity funds, which have raised €700 million.

G7 and Quad countries represent nearly 60 percent of the global economy and include many of the world’s leading democracies, military powers, and technology leaders. From the perspective of the Biden administration, this makes the G7 and Quad appealing forums to bolster and build out support for U.S.-preferred rules, standards, and norms in international affairs.
