Action to reduce gun violence shouldn't be controversial, . There's just no good reason for it.

It's absolutely clear that our country desperately needs gun safety laws that will keep guns out of dangerous hands. The hands of domestic abusers. The hands of those who are at risk of causing harm to themselves or others. The hands of white supremacists – like the one who senselessly murdered eight people this past week in a shooting spree targeting Asian Americans. Or the ones who stormed the U.S. Capitol fully-armed with the goal of assassinating members of Congress.

Too many lives have been taken – too many families and communities have been devastated – to continue this despicable pattern of inaction in the face of tragedy.

Next week, I'll be leading a series of hearings in the Judiciary Committee exploring America's gun violence epidemic – and the solutions to put a stop to it. Before then, I'm looking for 10,000 people to sign our petition before midnight demanding Congress take action to combat gun violence, and I hope I can count on your signature.

Please, will you add your name now to demand Congress finally take action and pass the gun safety laws we know will save lives?

The laws that will end the scourge of gun violence that plagues our country are common sense.

I just introduced the Domestic Violence Survivor Protection Act to make sure abusers can't get a firearm. We need to pass safe storage laws to make sure children can't accidentally access or fire guns. The House just passed a landmark bill that would ensure no one can buy a gun without a background check first – legislation that more than 90% of Americans support.

These reforms aren't controversial – they are patriotic. No matter how much the GOP and the NRA would like people to believe otherwise.

This is a top priority for me in the Senate, and I am committed to leading this fight for federal action until action is finally taken. If you're with me, please sign our petition to send a powerful message to Congress that enough is enough:

Thank you for speaking out on an issue that is incredibly close to my heart – and one that couldn't be more urgent.
