John --

I grew up in a home where there was domestic violence. I can remember the bruises on my mom's face. I'd really like any of the 172 Republicans, but especially Mike Garcia, to explain why they voted against the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) earlier this week.

VAWA protects women and survivors of domestic violence, and because of Republican opposition, the bill expired under the Trump administration.

Instead of voting on the bipartisan renewal of VAWA, Mike Garcia voted against helping women who have been assaulted and stalked. He voted against trying to prevent that violence in the first place. He voted against expanding services for survivors and combating sexual violence on college campuses.

He voted against all survivors of domestic abuse.

That vote sickens me.

If that sickens you too, then chip in right now to our #FlipThe25th fund.

When I was just a kid, my mom escaped my father's abuse with me and my brothers in tow -- becoming a single parent to keep us all safe. It was hard.

Now, seeing my own representative vote against legislation meant to support and protect people like my mom, I'm furious.

Our district deserves so much better than Mike Garcia.

If you want a representative who will actually support critical legislation like the VAWA reauthorization, please, chip in to our #FlipThe25th fund right now.
