It's official -- Deb Haaland has been sworn in as Secretary of the Interior, making her the first Native American Cabinet secretary in US history.
We're thrilled, and we can't wait for the transformational impact she is sure to have on climate action, green energy, natural resources, and our country's vast public lands.
But Haaland was a top target of the GOP during her confirmation hearings, and even though they failed to stop her historic appointment, they're showing no signs of letting up. GOP Sen. Steve Daines called her a “radical” who will kill jobs and perpetuate “divisiveness” -- and he and his colleagues are doing everything they can to stop her from achieving progress.
