Friend,

During the 2020 elections, we all were witnesses to blatant, Republican-led voter suppression. That voters in places like Georgia were able to overcome such voter suppression tactics and deliver Democratic victories wasn't luck – it was the result of really, really hard work.

But a pathway to voting shouldn't be hard work. The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy. And yet we saw lines to vote that stretched on for hours. We saw bogus voter ID laws and purges of voter rolls. We saw Republican politicians refuse to expand mail-in voting during a pandemic.

And they're already restricting access to the ballot again. But we have a bold mechanism to protect and expand voting rights: the For the People Act. This legislation would restore the Voting Rights Act, institute automatic voter registration and take bold steps to get big money out of politics. On top of that, it would tackle partisan gerrymandering by requiring states to use independent, nonpartisan commissions to form congressional districts.

In light of what we saw just last year, these reforms are urgently needed. That's why I'm co-sponsoring the bill – and why I'm asking for your voice in this. I need another 329 members of this team to sign my petition urging Congress to pass the For the People Act. Can I count on you to step up and add your name?

Add your name now to protect the constitutional right to vote: Call on Congress to pass the For the People Act!
