John—It’s the first day of our Coup Crew March Madness tournament, where we are trying to find which Republican you think is the worst of the bunch.

|
Today, we are starting in our Senate division, stacked with right-wing extremists.
Our first matchup pits Kentucky Senator and former Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (1) against Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton (8).
Mitch is the obvious favorite here, as the top Republican in the Senate, serving for four decades. He’s responsible for the partisanship, gridlock, and dysfunction in the chamber.
On the other hand, Cotton is in his second term, but word on the street is that this MAGA fan favorite is looking to run for president in 2024.

In our next match-up, we have Texas Senator and noted Cancun enthusiast Ted Cruz (2) against extremist Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn (7). This one is an easy call for us—we’re picking Ted Cruz to go all the way this year. Do you agree?

In another old-timer vs. rising star match-up, we have a tough one: South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham (6) against Missouri Senator Josh Hawley (3). If he had a spine, Graham lost it when he went full-MAGA after Trump’s victory, while Josh Hawley became the face of the January 6 insurrection when he led efforts to overturn President Biden’s win.

Our final first-round match-up has Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson (4) against Florida Senator Marco Rubio (5). Both of them are up in 2022, and they are some of the top targets for Democrats. Johnson, who is in the headlines for saying he wasn’t afraid of the MAGA mob on January 6 because they were white, is considering retiring next year. Marco is lying low as he contemplates jumping into the 2024 presidential race.

As you can see, these are all TOUGH match-ups, so we’re looking forward to seeing who gets your vote.
