Democrat,

Earlier this week Governor Murphy announced his intent to nominate civil rights attorney Rachel Wainer Apter for a seat on the New Jersey State Supreme Court. A Harvard Law graduate, former clerk to the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and director of the Attorney General’s Office Division of Civil Rights, Rachel is eminently qualified and will make an exemplary addition to the court.

But that didn’t stop Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli from making a sexist, unfair attack on her nomination, claiming that she is inexperienced despite her impressive record of public service. Read NJDSC Vice Chair Peg Schaffer’s response to Ciattarelli here.

With teachers now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines in the state, Governor Murphy is pushing for all school districts to move towards in-person instruction as soon as is safely possible. Noting that the American Rescue Act includes $2.8 billion in funding for local schools to implement safety measures, the Governor is working with all stakeholders to ensure that New Jersey students can get back into the classroom.

For up to date information regarding new cases and directives regarding coronavirus, or information on vaccine registration and signup, visit the state’s dedicated COVID-19 Information Hub or follow Governor Murphy’s official pages on social media. You can also reach the state’s Vaccine Call Center at 1-855-568-0545.

When he took office in January, President Biden announced an ambitious goal of providing 100 million vaccines in the first 100 days of his administration. Today the country smashed through that goal in just President Biden’s 58th day in office, once again showing how his leadership has dramatically improved vaccine production and distribution throughout the country.

Thank you,

Chairman John Currie
