Governor Hogan announced that Maryland will enter Phase 2 of its vaccination program within the next week, expanding eligibility to Marylanders over the age of 60. All Marylanders will be eligible to receive the vaccine no later than April 27th.

This comes the same day that Maryland has hit a major milestone [link removed] of administering more than 2 million vaccines. The State is currently averaging 43,034 shots per day and has built an infrastructure capable of doing 100,000 shots per day when more vaccines become available. Nearly 25% of all Marylanders have gotten a vaccine, including nearly two-thirds of all Marylanders over 65.

Over the past year, hate crimes against Asian Americans have spiked [link removed] over 150%. Governor Hogan called this disturbing trend “unacceptable,” noting that his Korean-American wife, three daughters, and grandkids have all “felt some discrimination personally.”

Maryland has continued to find the “middle ground” in the pandemic, lifting capacity limits to help restaurants and businesses get back on their feet while keeping in place the mask mandate and other safety measures.

"We've come to accept hyperpartisanship from Washington as the new normal. We shouldn't." 

Governor Hogan appeared on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” and The Hugh Hewitt Show to discuss infrastructure and Maryland’s balanced approach to the COVID-19 crisis.
