This is outrageous―in the middle of a pandemic, 175 House Republicans just voted to CUT Medicare!

Social Security Works is fighting back, to ensure that Medicare is EXPANDED, never cut. Can you chip in $7 today?

A decade ago, Republicans held the debt ceiling hostage in the hopes of forcing cuts to Social Security and Medicare. The “grand bargain” they sought never materialized, but they did manage to secure legislation that locked in automatic across the board cuts called “sequestration.” Congress has since passed legislation to protect vital programs like Medicare from those irresponsible cuts―but 175 Republicans just voted to let the benefit cuts go through!

Fortunately, Democrats won the House and Senate last year, so these Republicans won’t have their way. But it just goes to show that Republicans aren’t giving up their attacks on our earned benefits. The party that supported Donald Trump while he tried to defund Social Security hasn’t changed.
