Banning ‘conversion therapy’ or banning the Gospel? Please pray.

Dear supporter,

Sadly, many of those campaigning for a ‘conversion therapy’ ban don’t just want to protect gay people from quack medical treatments.

They want the ban to extend to the ordinary work of churches.

MPs attacked prayer and pastoral support for same-sex attracted people in a debate on ‘conversion therapy’ last week.

And the media’s coverage of this issue is usually quite prejudiced against biblical Christianity.

Thankfully, more and more Christians are speaking up.

We at The Christian Institute are doing all we can to ensure the Government hears our concerns, and to help equip believers to speak up wisely.

As Government ministers at Westminster consider how to legislate in this area, it is so important that we pray about this issue. Perhaps you could invite others in your church to join you as you pray, and forward this email to them?

Please pray:

  • That any ban will not outlaw the ordinary, everyday work of churches.
  • For wisdom and courage for Christians speaking out on this issue, including the staff of The Christian Institute.
  • For the media to fairly represent our concerns.
  • That politicians and journalists would not confuse ‘conversion therapy’ with Christian conversion.
  • For those in our churches living faithful lives while experiencing homosexual temptation.

If you want to know more, read our briefing, ‘Banning Conversion Therapy or Banning the Gospel?’, and watch this short discussion.

Yours in Christ,
