John,

Today, I’m thrilled to share with you that U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey along with Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Andy Levin introduced the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development and Generating Renewable Energy to Electrify the Nation’s (BUILD GREEN) Infrastructure and Jobs Act.

The BUILD GREEN Infrastructure and Jobs Act is a new plan to address the climate crisis and our crumbling infrastructure by providing $500 billion in grant funding for roads, bridges, and rail, while electrifying our public transportation systems (including school buses!) over the next ten years.

You and I both know that we can’t afford inaction on climate change. But Big Oil and Gas, and the politicians they fund, are fighting to maintain a status quo that lines their pockets while they pollute our land, air, and water and destroy our communities. If thousands of people, like you, tell their representatives that they must support the BUILD GREEN Infrastructure and Jobs Act, members of Congress will have no choice but to respond.

So, I’m reaching out to you to ask:

Will you send a letter to your representatives urging them to co-sponsor the BUILD GREEN Infrastructure and Jobs Act that was just introduced in Congress? [link removed]

For over a year, the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated our economy, leading to record unemployment rates.

At the same time, we’ve seen an increase in climate catastrophes from the wildfires in California to the relentless hurricanes that pounded the Gulf Coast. As our nation reels from these compound crises, it is clear that in order to heal and rebuild we need an immediate plan to tackle two of the biggest crises of our lifetime: climate change and a rigged economic system that works for the few, not the many.

The good news is that Senators Warren and Markey and Representatives Ocasio-Cortez and Levin have a plan.

According to climate experts, electrification is one of the best options to address climate change within our transportation sector, because electric engines are more efficient than combustion engines and reduce the amount of energy needed for transportation by about two-thirds.

The BUILD GREEN Infrastructure and Jobs Act will help create an infrastructure system that mitigates the climate crisis and adds approximately 960,000 new jobs.

It’s our chance to stand up to the fossil fuel industry, create clean energy jobs, and lay out the foundation for a 100% renewable energy future. To make that happen, we need thousands of people to step up and tell their representatives that inaction is no longer an option. Together, we can build back fossil free. I’m asking you, will you join me and help make it a reality?

If the answer is yes, send a letter to ask your representatives to co-sponsor the BUILD GREEN Infrastructure and Jobs Act. [link removed]

Thank you for taking action.
