Team,
Earlier this week in the Atlanta, GA-area, a white gunman shot and killed eight people. Six of the victims were women of Asian descent.
These horrific attacks in Georgia follow a wave of hate crimes targeting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in the past year.
President Trump and other national leaders have spent the past years fueling hatred in our country with their xenophobic and racist rhetoric. As the COVID-19 pandemic began, these hateful words have directly resulted in the AAPI community being targeted and scapegoated.
Our words matter, and it's all of our responsibility to condemn hate speech when we hear it and stand up for the AAPI community.
Today the State of New Hampshire announced that flags will be lowered to half staff in remembrance of the victims who lost their lives. My heart goes out to the entire Asian American and Pacific Islander community, and my thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims. We must stand against hate wherever it exists and fight against the discrimination our AAPI neighbors face together.
In solidarity,
Chris
