This is a
pivotal moment for health care across our country.

During this time last year, every single state had a confirmed Covid-19
case for the very first time. And in the 365 days since, the ongoing
pandemic has laid bare the urgent case for Medicare for All.

We’ve lost 539,000 Americans. Many who have recovered from severe cases
left the hospital with surprise medical bills. And millions lost their
health insurance altogether simply because they lost their jobs — on top
of the millions who never had coverage to begin with.

In other words, we needed Medicare for All yesterday. But I’m ready to
continue building a movement strong enough to pass the Medicare for All
Act of 2021 that I just reintroduced in the House — alongside even MORE
co-sponsors than we had when we introduced it last Congress.

every person in this country is guaranteed quality health care regardless
of their ability to pay?

Here’s how much you’d pay for health care under Medicare for All:

Primary care: $0
Hospital stays: $0
Mental health: $0
Vision: $0
Dental: $0
Reproductive care: $0
Prescriptions: $0

But a powerful for-profit health care industry and the politicians they
pay to do their bidding will once again try to stand in our way and stop
our progress. That’s why I am calling on our growing Medicare for All
movement to march onward, be courageous, and hold a powerful vision of
what we can achieve together.

With more than half of the House Democratic Caucus signing on, a new
Senate majority, and massive growth in public support for this bold and
transformative legislation, we have a real opportunity to get this done.

transform our health care system into one that prioritizes patients over
profits and care over corporations.

In solidarity,

Rep. Pramila Jayapal
