John,

Our country is facing a devastating gun violence epidemic. Last year alone, a record-breaking 41,500 Americans had their lives tragically cut short due to gun violence with thousands more injured.

These tragedies are preventable and there is overwhelming support from the American people for common-sense gun safety reform. Ninety-three percent of Americans, including a majority of Republicans, support background checks on gun sales.

That's why Kim and her colleagues in the House recently passed H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, to close loopholes that allow firearms to be purchased without background checks.

This common-sense legislation will be a crucial step to help protect our communities from gun violence, but we want to know what you think. Do you support universal background checks on gun sales?

As a congresswoman and pediatrician, the safety of our communities is one of Kim's top priorities. That's why one of her first acts in Congress was co-sponsoring H.R. 8, but this crucial legislation was blocked in the Senate by Mitch McConnell.

With a new Democratic majority in the Senate, we finally have the chance to pass common-sense gun safety measures to ensure no more lives are lost. But first, Kim wants to hear from you.

Take our one-question poll and let us know if you support universal background checks on gun purchases.
