"Building Movements in Defense of Life" Film Festival
"Saturday and Sunday, March 20 and 21"
[ [link removed] ]Dear Friend,
"*Coming up tomorrow: *"a free online film festival, "Building Movements in Defense of Life," [ [link removed] ]! On March 20 and 21, please join us for this celebration of World Water Day (March 22) and the brave communities that put their lives on the line to defend it.
Each film will be followed by a community specific panel with fierce Indigenous and Black women leaders - including Miriam Miranda and Bertha Zúniga Cáceres from our partners OFRANEH and COPINH. A large group discussion with all the women warriors together will close out the festival.
In Honduras, the most dangerous place in the world to be a land defender, the Lenca and Garífuna people are not backing down. They are fighting to uphold their rights and Indigenous and Black cultures in the face of state backed megaprojects and narco-traffickers who seek to assassinate them, destroy their lands, and erase their existence. Watch the WORLD PREMIERE of "La Lucha Sigue" as well as "Invasion" on Saturday.
Then, on Sunday, watch "L'Eau Est la Vie: From Standing Rock to the Swamp," featuring a Grassroots International BEAI Fund grantee. On the banks of Louisiana, fierce Indigenous women are risking everything to protect Mother Earth from the predatory fossil fuel companies that seek to poison it.
