After record voter turnout in the 2020 election, Republicans latched themselves on to Donald Trump and weaponized his baseless lies of voter fraud and called for mail-in votes to be thrown out — all to further their own political gain.

But right-wing attempts to suppress the vote are far from new. For too long, Republicans have suppressed the right to vote by purging voter rolls, promoting discriminatory voter ID laws, and gerrymandering districts in their favor.

Just this year, Republicans have introduced more than 100 bills to restrict access to the ballot box in 43 states. We must fight back to protect the right to vote and stop Republicans from silencing our voices.

That’s why I’m supporting the For the People Act — legislation to implement a national standard for fair voting processes, expand and protect mail-in voting, and reform our broken campaign finance laws. With Democrats in the majority, we can finally pass this critical piece of legislation, but it will come down to every last vote, so I could use your support on this.

The For the People Act will strengthen our democracy, and we must pass it as soon as possible. Add your name to my petition demanding Congress pass this bill today because every American deserves to have their voice heard.
