Dear John, Please join us for Black Leaders at the Forefront of Democracy Reform: Breaking Down Structural Inequities and Creating a Racially Just Democracy on Tuesday, March 23, 12-1pm CT. The event will be moderated by University of Minnesota Professor and FairVote MN Board Member Dr. Michael Minta, one of the country’s leading experts on the political representation of African American interests in the United States, and feature an all-star panel, including attorney and human rights activist Zaylore Stout, Community Change Organizer Mike Griffin, and some of the leading reform advocates at the state legislature -- Representatives Cedrick Frazier, Esther Agbaje, Hodan Hassan, Athena Hollins, and Mohamud Noor.
There is growing awareness of inequities in our voting system that underlie broader racial disparities. This expert panel will take a deep dive to understand the structural problems in our current electoral system and discuss reforms, like Ranked Choice Voting, restoring voters’ rights, and eliminating voter restriction laws, among others, so that all citizens are fully empowered and represented. We look forward to having you with us. Sincerely,
Jeanne Massey
