Friend,
I just gave my very first speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate. The topic was voting rights – because in Georgia and across the country, our democracy is under attack. If you were able to watch, I hope I made you proud. If you missed it, here's what I need you to know: Your vote is sacred, and I'll never stop fighting to protect it.
Ever since a record number of voters powered our historic Democratic victories in November and January, GOP lawmakers have introduced more than 250 new voter suppression bills in 43 states. They've doubled down on their lies, their deceptions and their conspiracy theories – in a systematic effort to suppress our right to vote. Nowhere is that assault on our rights more threatening than in Georgia.
Right now, Georgia Republicans are forcing through bills that would end no-excuse mail voting, enact harsh voter ID laws, restrict early voting on the weekend and more. These bills are designed to suppress voting rights and target millions of Black voters and other voters of color.
What we are witnessing is a massive and unabashed assault on voting rights and voter access unlike anything we have seen since the Jim Crow era – and I can't fight back without your urgent help.
I made this the topic of my maiden Senate floor speech because we cannot rest – not until every eligible American, no matter what state they live in, can make their voice heard at the ballot box. We cannot rest until the dangerous legacy of Jim Crow is eradicated from our country and Black people, people of color – everyone – can participate fully in our democracy.
Just know this, friend: Your vote is your voice, and your voice is powerful. If it wasn't, politicians wouldn’t be trying to take it away. Your voice is what made history, flipped the Senate blue and sent Georgia's first-ever Black senator to Washington. And your voice is what I need today to protect our right to vote at this critical crossroads.
I'm looking for 25,000 grassroots supporters to sign my petition to fight back against this GOP-led assault on our democracy – but with time running out before our midnight deadline, I'm still missing your name. This couldn't be more important, so I'm personally asking: Will you add your name now to defend voting rights and protect our democracy?

A vote is a kind of prayer about the world we want for our children, and our prayers are stronger when we pray together. Thanks for speaking up with me.
