Friends,
Now more than ever, it is crucial that universal background checks are signed into law. Especially this week after 8 people were killed--six of them Asian women--in attacks in the Atlanta area.
Last week, the House passed universal background checks, but now we need the Senate to step up. We can't sit around and wait for another tragedy to strike, we must take action now before more lives are lost.
And the thing is, the policies we know can make a difference have broad, bipartisan support nationwide. They can save lives in the neighborhoods, cities, and communities that need action on gun safety the most.
That's why it's crucial that we all speak up and let our Senators know that it's time to pass universal background checks. We can get it done, but only if we all do our part. Which is why today we have to ask:
Will you add your name today and tell the Senate to bring universal background check legislation up for a vote immediately? We cannot afford to wait another day for lawmakers to address this national public safety threat.

We can't afford to delay. Every day that goes by without action allows our gun violence epidemic to continue. In 2019 the House passed universal background checks, but Mitch McConnell refused to bring the legislation to the floor for a vote.
This is the best chance we've ever had to pass universal background checks. We have a gun safety majority in the House, Senate, and a president in the White House who is willing to sign the legislation into law.
That's why we have to act now. Your voice is so important in this fight, and adding your name to this petition will help show that Americans want action on gun safety now.
Together in the fight,
Team Giffords
