Dear Friend,

Yesterday, yet again, we made history with the passage of the Dream and the Promise Act (H.R. 6). This legislation, which passed with bipartisan support yesterday by a vote of 228-197, is a historic step towards correcting the injustices in America’s immigration system. If passed, this bill would create a pathway to citizenship for millions of immigrants that are currently under DACA, TPS, and DED programs. Read our statement with CUSP here.

At the forefront of the TPS fight since 2015, we have been working hand-in-hand with our trusted partners like CUSP and other immigrant rights organizations to ensure that our communities stand together in this fight.

This is truly a grassroots win. We are incredibly proud of our TPS committee of Nepali TPS holders that met regularly and engaged in every single step of this fight and developed their leadership. We’ve developed member leaders across the country in states like CA, TX, VA, MD, CO, MA, KY, and NH to grow our base.

In just these last few months we organized national and local meetings with members, trained new members as storytellers, met with U.S. Representatives together, mobilized in the streets and so much more.

You signed our petition, sent letters to your elected representatives, called your offices, and encouraged your friends and family to do the same. This is as much YOUR win as it is ours, and that’s how we won.

But this fight is far from over.

We are one step closer to winning permanent residency, and our next stop is the Senate.  We can not do this alone. We will continue to need your support for this campaign.

Our ask of you today is this: will you donate to us to continue funding this movement? Every dollar counts.

In Solidarity,

Pabitra Khati Benjamin,

Executive Director, Adhikaar

P.S. If you live near Washington, D.C. we are co-organizing a socially-distanced rally on March 24 to push for the passage of the SECURE Act in the Senate, to clinch our win for permanent residency. Please join if you can and share with your friends.
