Secretary Ross Attends U.S.-Australia Space Cooperation Event [ [link removed] ]

On September 21, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross delivered brief remarks at a signing ceremony between NASA and the Australian Space Agency. The two agencies documented their intent to pursue a framework agreement on space cooperation, including Australian participation in the Artemis lunar program.

Recently, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross traveled to Greece and Turkey to discuss the United States economic relationships with these nations as well as the best route to strengthening their commercial partnerships with the U.S.

Secretary of Commerce Approves Disaster Declarations for American Fishing Communities [ [link removed] ]

Recently, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced his determination that commercial fishery failures occurred for multiple fisheries between 2017 and 2019 in Alaska, California, Georgia, and South Carolina, while further finding that a catastrophic regional fishery disaster occurred for Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama due to extreme flooding events in the Gulf of Mexico.

NIST Unveils New Laboratory Building for Improved National Radiation Measurements [ [link removed] ]

The U.S. Department of Commerces National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil a new laboratory building that substantially enhances NISTs capabilities for radiation measurements critical to the health care, food processing, national security and other industries.

Every type of health care in the U.S. that depends on radiation relies on the measurements done at the NIST Radiation Physics Building, said Deputy Secretary of Commerce Karen Dunn Kelley. Which is why it is so important that this addition is now complete and ready for use.

Prototype Stats Show Each State's Outdoor Recreation Economy [ [link removed] ]

New prototype outdoor recreation statistics show state value added, compensation, and employment for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. These statistics show that the relative size of the outdoor recreation economy ranged from 5.4 percent of GDP for Hawaii to 1.2 percent for the District of Columbia in 2017.

Minority Business Development Agency Awards $3.6 Million for Business Development in Indian Country [ [link removed] ]

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) announced grant awards totaling $3.6 million to support business development in Indian Country. The investment represents an historic level of 17% of all the MBDA grants awarded this year.

Under the guidance of President Donald J. Trump, economies are booming across the country, said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. These projects have the potential to further allow Native-owned businesses to build on this unprecedented economic climate and, in turn, create jobs and new opportunities in their communities.

State Personal Income, Second Quarter 2019 [ [link removed] ]

State personal income increased 5.4 percent at an annual rate in the second quarter of 2019, a deceleration from the 6.2 percent increase in the first quarter, according to estimates released today by the Bureau of Economic Analysis (table 1). The percent change in personal income across all states ranged from 7.5 percent in Texas to unchanged in North Dakota.
