Dear John,
For 43 years, the discriminatory Hyde Amendment has blocked federal funds from being used to cover abortion care, rendering it effectively inaccessible to 14.5 million people in the U.S.
As our new fellow Dr. Connie Liu writes in the Albuquerque Journal:
“Under Hyde, the choice to have an abortion is a false one when the only options are far away and unaffordable."
"I see so many different kinds of patients every day. Their beliefs vary on most aspects of reproductive health, including birth control, fertility, pregnancy and abortion. One belief, however, has been consistent: All value the ability to make decisions about their bodies and their health care.”
That’s why we’re calling on Congress to lift the Hyde Amendment. Can you help amplify this call by sharing Dr. Liu's op-ed with your network?
John, our doctors have seen first-hand the harm Hyde has intentionally caused for communities with low incomes and those who live in remote areas and people of color.
So it’s time for Congress to act and lift the discriminatory Hyde Amendment to ensure everyone has equitable access to abortion care.
Thank you for helping make abortion access a reality.
