Friends,

The American Rescue Plan, our latest COVID-19 relief and recovery package, was signed into law earlier this month. Among the many provisions of the bill designed to help Iowans still struggling in this crisis, we included a new round of economic impact payments – direct payments of up to $1,400 per adult and dependent that can help cover expenses, keep a roof over your head, and stimulate our local economies.

That round of direct payments, which is available in some form to Iowans who made up to $80,000 on their last filed tax return (or $160,000 on a jointly-filed return), is already being sent out via direct deposit.

The IRS has already updated their portal to allow Iowans to check on the status of their payments. You can find that portal here.

If you are having trouble claiming this or previous Economic Impact Payments, my office is here to help. You can click here to contact one of my caseworkers.

You can learn more about what’s in the American Rescue Plan for Iowa here.

I want to hear from you on whether this payment has reached you yet:

Are you expecting an Economic Impact Payment from this legislation?

If yes, have you received your payment via direct deposit yet?

If no, did you previously receive a payment by a method that was not direct deposit (e.g. check, debit card)?

If you have received your payment, how are you expecting to use that payment?

Thank you,
Cindy
