Friend,
We will never make progress as a country without putting love and compassion for each other first.
That's why it saddens me -- and it should sadden all Americans -- that countless businesses across the entire country have the power to turn away people who identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's even more frustrating to know that right now, transgender folks can be discriminated against at stores, schools, and beyond.
I'm proud to have recently voted to pass the Equality Act, which aims to combat discrimination while updating past legislation to provide protections for the LGBTQIA+ community -- because
no one deserves to live in fear of hate.
The Equality Act ensures that our country is able to move toward a more inclusive future,
but we need to put pressure on the Senate so the Equality Act can be on its way to becoming law.
This is so important for all of our fellow Americans, friend. Will you please join me and sign my petition telling the Senate to pass the Equality Act?
Human rights cannot wait. We must pass this crucial legislation to protect our fellow citizens from discrimination and hate now.
The fact of the matter is there are fewer than 25 states that have protections for LGBTQIA+ folks coded into law. We are simply not doing enough to protect all Americans from discrimination.
This is our opportunity to protect family, friends, and neighbors all across the country --
and we can only get it done if we do it together.
Friend -- please add your name beside mine and demand the Senate stand up to pass the Equality Act immediately.
Thank you for standing up for your fellow citizens.
With love,
Antonio
