Paul Gosar, a little known congressman from Arizona, recently took to Twitter to share a meme with the words “tell everyone America first is inevitable.”
“America First is inevitable” is white nationalist Nick Fuentes' slogan. Fuentes has called for a homeland for white people, denied the Holocaust ever occurred, and rallied Trump's rioters outside the Capitol on January 6 -- now Gosar is promoting these white nationalist views from Washington.
Gosar represents the worst of the GOP, and he is an example of Trumpism run amok -- 3 of Gosar's siblings even wrote to Congress begging he be removed from the House.
And if tweeting a white nationalist motto wasn't enough to make his views clear, Gosar spent a weekend last month delivering the keynote speech at Fuentes' white nationalist convention -- while the House was voting on an expansive stimulus package to help Americans through the pandemic.
In the past, the GOP has stripped representatives of their committee assignments and ostracized Republicans for having ties to white nationalism. As MSNBC put it, “GOP officials could treat Gosar the exact same way. At least for now, they don't want to.”
While white supremacists like Josh Hawley have gotten national attention, Gosar has been flying under the radar in Congress. Engaged Democrats like you might have missed this too, or maybe Democrats are getting too used to the GOP's racist agenda.
