I’ve taken a look at the books and we’re so close to our goal! But we still need to raise $2,975 before midnight Eastern tonight. I wanted to make sure you saw Lindsey’s note and had a chance to donate before the deadline. It’s been a long and very productive week, and we’re almost there!

Dear John,

It’s Monday, so most folks are rolling out of bed and preparing for the beginning of the week—but for me, today is particularly meaningful. It marks the end of our fundraising quarter. Tonight at midnight is the last opportunity for donations to be included in our next public filing.

Running for office is exciting and eye-opening. But truthfully, it can also be exhausting. But it is so very worth it. It is worth it because of inspiring people like you—people I meet every day who are working hard to provide for their families and improve their communities.

Recently, I met Vanessa, who has lived in the district for her entire adult life. Despite her hard work over the decades, she still struggles to make ends meet. She is concerned about the cost of living, housing prices and whether she will be able to retire. She’s also very alarmed about climate change—and the effects it will have on her grandchildren’s lives. I had brought my daughter with me, so we bonded over that shared concern for the future of our families and the country.

She told me she supports this campaign because she doesn’t think our current leadership has helped on any of these issues. Because of people like Vanessa, I wake up and find the strength to work harder, dig deeper, and find it in me to keep on going.
