I'm humbled to let you know that the Center for Effective Lawmaking just released its biannual effectiveness ratings and named me the most effective senator in the past two years.

In the study's report, it was noted that I was the first senator serving in the minority to be rated as the most effective since they started tracking data over 50 years ago.

First of all, I want to express my appreciation to you and this entire team. You fought tirelessly - in one of the toughest election battles where we were constantly outraised - to reelect me so I can keep getting things done for the American people. Thank you. I was able to pass legislation into law during our tough reelection fight -- and that's because you had my back.

I'm proud to have a proven record of working across the aisle to get things done - like passing legislation that benefits veterans and apprenticeship training, protects our Great Lakes and shoreline communities, and more. The study noted that I was able to have great success in legislating because of my work to build coalitions.

And now, with our newly won (albeit razor-thin) Democratic Senate majority, we can build on those efforts and take bold action that's been long overdue on health care, the environment and our economy.

But here's the thing, Friend: We need to defend the majority from Mitch McConnell's efforts to take it back. I feel strongly about this, and it's why I'm leading our party's campaign arm to protect and grow our majority.

I'm proud to serve this country, and I'm honored to be ranked as the most effective lawmaker in the Senate. And so today, I'm asking you to help me keep up these crucial efforts by defending our Democratic majority in the Senate.
