Friends,

There is no language in the U.S. Constitution that protects all people on the basis of sex and explicitly prohibits gender discrimination.

The only place in the Constitution where women's equality is upheld is in the right to vote. And that's not enough.

It's been nearly 100 years since the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was introduced, and five decades since it was passed in Colorado. As women fight for equal protection, payment, and treatment, and to rise to leadership positions in industries across the workforce, our Constitution must do more to protect them.

It's time to finally ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.

When ratified, the Equal Rights Amendment will be the basis on which all sex discrimination cases are argued. It will make laws not just at the federal level, but in states across the country, more equal. It will advance the work for equal pay and equal protection. It is necessary.

Equality shouldn't have a time limit. That's why last night, Jason voted to remove the arbitrary deadline that was placed on the ERA in the 1970s and reaffirm equal rights for women. We have a chance to make equality a reality. We have to take action.

Sign on now to become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Equal Rights Amendment.
