On Tuesday night, eight lives were violently stolen in Georgia — six of whom were Asian women.
These murders are a jarring reminder of the grave threat posed by white supremacy, misogyny, and racism directed at AAPI people in all of our communities. In the face of this persistent racism and violence, we stand in solidarity and deep compassion with our AAPI family in Georgia and across the country.
So today, I am asking if you’ll split a contribution between the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Atlanta, and the Asian American Resource Workshop, which are all working to support the AAPI community and root out anti-Asian racism and violence on the ground, locally and nationwide.
Racism and xenophobia directed at Asian people in our country is not new — and the trauma has only deepened as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has led to an increase in anti-Asian rhetoric and violence throughout the United States.
We cannot — we will not — stand by and watch. We must act intentionally to keep all of our communities safe from violence, stoke public consciousness about the realities facing AAPI communities, and meet racism and misogyny head on.
