Last week, Our Revolution announced that we are hiring organizers in West Virginia and Arizona to put pressure on Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema to not allow Republicans to use the filibuster — a relic of Jim Crow — to block critical legislation like the For the People Act to get big money out of politics, ensure that everyone has the right to vote, and fight corruption.

We also made it clear to President Biden that we would be watching his actions closely. Thanks to this pressure from us and our progressive allies, President Biden is now on the record in favor of filibuster reform!

However, we all know that we must remain disciplined to create the political conditions where the Democratic establishment has no choice but to defend our democracy. Republicans are pushing bills in Georgia and other key swing states across America that are designed to suppress as many voters as possible, so we have no time to waste.

John, the For the People Act is currently under consideration in Congress, and the next few weeks will be critical to determining whether we have enough support to overcome corporate forces and restore our democracy.
