When right-wing rioters broke into the Capitol earlier this year, baselessly claiming the presidential election was rigged, we saw how fragile our democracy truly is.

Make no mistake — this reckoning has been a long time coming. For decades, right-wing groups have sought to maintain power by spreading debunked claims of voter fraud. They’ve pushed voter suppression through strict ID laws, attacks on voting-by-mail, purging voter rolls, and more that make it harder for Americans to access the ballot box.

It’s absurd. We should be making it easier — not harder — for Americans to vote and make their voices heard.

That’s why I’m a proud original co-sponsor of the For the People Act. This bill will strengthen our democracy by expanding voting rights, fighting voter suppression, stopping dark money, and more.
