Our work in Congress in 2021 is off to a good start, but Palestinians can’t wait

Dear Supporter,

In just the last week, there have been three important letters sent by Members of Congress to the Biden administration advocating for Palestinian rights. That’s right -- three. In one week. And AMP played a role in developing or promoting all three of them. More than ever, your advocacy is making a difference.

Can you take a minute to call these offices, and thank them for spearheading these letters?

  • Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, (202) 225-5126. Her letter, written with Rep. Mark Pocan, and signed by 10 of their colleagues, presses for accountability for Israel’s demolition of Palestinian homes, the restoration of humanitarian aid to Palestinians, opposition to Israeli settler-colonialism, and more.
  • Congressman André Carson, (202) 225-4011. His letter, written also with Rep. Pocan, and signed by 15 of their colleagues, calls on the State Department to ensure that Israel fulfills its obligations under international law to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Palestinians under its military occupation.
  • Congressman Mark Pocan, (202) 225-2906. He cosponsored both of the letters above.
  • Senator Bernie Sanders, 202-224-5141. His letter, signed by 4 Senate colleagues, similarly calls on the State Department to ensure that Israel fulfills its obligations to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Palestinians and also calls for full citizenship rights for Palestinians and Israelis.

Thank them for writing these letters and for taking a principled position for Palestinian rights. It’s important to show elected officials that when they advocate for Palestinian rights they have support and political cover. These days, support for Palestinian rights is a litmus test that shows how progressive politicians truly are.

Our efforts in Congress in 2021 are off to a strong start, but Palestinians can’t wait. Israel is still withholding much-needed COVID-19 vaccines and home demolitions continue relentlessly. These letters are important, but they’re only a start, and they demand answers and actions. For now, we are taking a minute to celebrate our tremendous progress. We are proud of this work and you should be too - it would not have been possible without you.

Sincerely,

Dr. Osama Abuirshaid
Executive Director
