March is Women’s History Month, a time to reflect on the many contributions women have made to our country -- to our economy, our government, our military, our families, and in so many other arenas -- as well as the progress we’ve made as a country toward equal rights for all.

But this month isn’t just about reflection. Reflection must be paired with action.

This week, the House considered two measures that will be essential for realizing equal rights and protections for women:

THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AC T: Reauthorizing VAWA would take important steps to prevent domestic abuse, violence against women and girls, and sexual harassment in our country. It would also secure crucial resources for victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

THE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT : Removing the deadline for ratification of the ERA would give states more time to ratify the amendment so it can finally be added to the Constitution, codifying equal rights for all Americans regardless of sex.

This Women’s History Month, I’m asking you to join me in standing up for women’s rights. Click here to add your name to mine >> [[link removed]]

The VAWA and the ERA are long overdue, but we can’t stop there either. We also need to secure equal pay for equal work, institute a national paid family leave plan, and protect access to reproductive health care .

Because at the end of the day, these aren’t just women’s issues. These are family issues. They’re American issues.

It’s up to all of us to stand up for women’s rights in our country. Please add your name today and join me in the fight for women’s rights. [[link removed]]
