Friend —

Earlier this week, Barbara and her colleagues in the House reintroduced the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Originally passed in 1994, the VAWA was the first legislation of its kind to create a national framework and set of laws to protect women who experience domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

But two years ago, Republicans in Congress let this crucial legislation expire.

Since the start of the pandemic, intimate partner violence has soared across the country as more partners are stuck at home with their abusers and with limited access to services.

The reauthorization of VAWA would address this epidemic of violence by expanding life-saving services and programs for survivors, strengthening legal protections, and providing assistance with housing, healthcare, and cash aid.

We must ensure every victim of intimate partner violence is safe, protected, and empowered. Will you add your name to join Barbara in demanding Congress renew the Violence Against Women Act immediately?

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we must renew our commitment to protecting all women and survivors so that they can live in a country free from fear and violence.

Thanks for taking a stand.
