Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives have been clear that they would ‘take Canada back’ by weakening gun control and repealing Canada’s assault-weapons ban, making pollution free again, and continuing a Harper-era approach that cuts taxes for the wealthiest one percent, while cutting vital services for everyone else.
In just a few hours time, friend, Erin O’Toole’s Conservatives will be kicking off their 2021 convention.
While the Toronto Star has recently reported that “A source close to O’Toole said the party is preparing for a spring election,” Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team are focused on doing everything it takes – for as long as it takes – to keep Canadians healthy, safe, and supported.
Especially in a minority Parliament though, friend, we know that we can never take our progress for granted. Several reports have highlighted that the extreme far-right is expected to turn out in force to this convention, after Mr. O’Toole sought their support during his leadership race – including by promising to repeal gun control laws to court the gun lobby, and allowing his MPs to propose and vote for anti-abortion laws to court anti-choice groups.
