** What does abolishing the Kafala Mean?
------------------------------------------------------------
* And why aren’t GCC states on track to do it?

Monday, March 22 | 4:30 PM Kuwait Time | 1:30 PM GMT

Kafala is a catchall term to describe the visa regime of Gulf States. However, the immigration regime is not homogeneous across the region and the details vary from country to country. Yet, in advocacy, reporting and research, these nuances are often lost in the pursuit of a convenient tag. This has also allowed Gulf states to celebrate minimum reforms that go little beyond renaming old practices as "abolishing Kafala."

This webinar aims to break down these claims, and shed light on the plight and human rights of migrant workers within the complex play of immigration control and labour market dynamics.
